Aerotek Machine Operator in Crystal Lake, Illinois

John Crane, a manufacturer of Carbon Rings and Seals for the Oil Industry is seeking candidates for their production team which hosts a variety of opportunities - machine operating, grinder operating, quality control, material handling, cnc, and more.

Their product is extremely unique and most candidates won't have experience with it. The most similar product you can compare the pressed carbon to is cast iron. The purpose of the pressed carbon is to act as a seal/coupling/washer/etc and it is insulated and does not transfer heat.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Since John Crane likes to promote from within, most candidates will start as a Machine Operator in their Carbon Pressing Department. This person will be responsible for operating a machine that is responsible for taking powder carbon and pressing it into small rings. Or they may start off operating a grinding machine to grind down pieces to the proper size after doing a quality check with a mic/cal. They will also be taught how to do offsets on the machines to make sure parts are being produced to spec. Throughout the process, the person will visually inspect the rings for imperfections and stack the rings neatly into a huge bucket. The bucket will need to be moved into a giant furnace where the rings will cook and solidify for 5 days. They will also operate lapper machines and monitor through the progress.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

MUST HAVES -

*Previous production experience working with machinery

*Micrometer, caliper, drop gauge, or veneer experience

*Familiarity with blueprints

NICE TO HAVE

*Grinding experience

*Best machinery would include any of the following: Press Machinery, Manual Machines (Mill/Lathes/Grinders), Thermoforming Machines, or Injection Molding Machines. No Paper, Foods, and Medical Device Machinery.

*Have a strong mechanical aptitude

*Should know what "ID, OD" means

*GOOD vision to deal with small parts

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
