EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
DESCRIPTION of work:
The Executive Director is a full-time and in-person professional position.
The Southern Iowa Council of Governments (SICOG) serves 67 communities and eight Iowa Counties. The Executive Directordirects the organizations planning, technical assistance, grantsmanship, economic development, and local leadership initiatives sponsored by the Agency. The Executive Director conducts comprehensive programming though Southern Iowa Council of Governments, Southern Iowa Development Group, Southern Iowa COG Housing Trust Fund, and ATURA (RPA14) Transportation Planning Affiliation. TheExecutive Director provides direction, supervision, and communication to all staff so that programs are consistently, effectively, and efficiently implemented. He or She also exhibits interpersonal skills that foster the development and maintenance of good working relationships and provides consistent and comprehensive communication to the Boards of SICOG and its affiliates.
EXPERIENECE:
Experience in planning or public administration is preferred.
Experience in working with governmental projects is also an asset.
The successful candidate will have several years of public management experience, especially in regional development. Other important qualities are the ability to manage and direct a talented staff, establish effective partnerships with other community institutions and local, state, and Federal leaders. Knowledge and experience in: budgeting and general accounting principles, understanding and creating programs that follow state and federal grant administrative rules, being a positive, responsible representative of SICOG to stakeholders and the public.
TheExecutive Director is an exempt employee and reports to the agency's Board of Directors.
A beginning salary of $90,000.00 and a very competitive benefits package is provided.
