About the Role
The successful candidate will operate as a member of the Corporate Engineering Services organization team. Responsibilities include working with onsite engineering teams troubleshooting HW issues & onsite hardware and system rework. Prepares, loads and solders printed circuit boards, and performs rework and modifications. Running an onsite proto workspace with leads and building this up into a new onsite support area for tech teams. Manages and reports on prototype lab and stockroom activities. Obtains prototype and product build project needs and timetables to ensure project schedules are met.
Part of this role will include supporting HW design requirements, developing schematics, working with component engineering, mechanical engineering, PWB CAD, sourcing, program management, technology team(s) to complete lab & test HW designs, development, and delivery to technology team(s).
This successful candidate will need to effectively communicate across Geo’s (USA, India, and EU) verbally, and written, on a regular basis.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Effectively set up a proto station for onsite tech team support
Help troubleshoot lab and HW problems as they arise
Co-ordinate & schedule rework plans across tech teams with a documented process.
Prepares, loads and solders printed circuit boards, with minimal supervision. Performs rework and modifications of CCAs and some basic components/devices.
Performs mechanical assembly of panels, test boxes and chassis.
Executes plans based on understanding of needs and requirements and resolves moderately complex build issues.
Reads and interprets moderately complex mechanical drawings and blueprints to perform a variety of assembly operations.
Performs moderately complex repair work, rework, removal, and modifications to assemblies or sub-assemblies as necessary.
Maintain and build proto station per onsite needs – keep materials up to date and in stock – build out equipment list as needed.
Performs moderate design and document printed wiring board layouts that conform to manufacturing and industry standards.
Fabricates moderately complex wire harnesses / cable assemblies, PCBs and various moderately complex HW.
Evaluates reliability of materials, properties, and techniques used in test platforms.
Interacts and effectively communicates with Proto leads, local and global engineering groups.
Skills/Experience
Quickly assimilate onto an existing project and support multiple projects and customers on very fast design schedules.
Strong problem-solving skills, ability to communicate clearly, organize effectively and work with cross functional teams across multiple engineering disciplines (RF/analog, mixed signal and digital).
Understanding of electrical and/or electronics engineering concepts and circuit solving skills.
Strong multi-discipline engineering technical/analytical skills
Familiar with Digital circuit design, Analog circuit design, RF Fundamentals, Analog/Digital Communications, High Speed Interfaces
Experience in complete proof of concept, prototype, and product design
Concept, architecture, schematic, layout, design for manufacturing, supervising on manufacturing and production, design verification, and mass production.
Experience in HDI PCB design, flexible and rigid board, baseband, and RF circuitry.
Experience in industrial automation, factory hardware, industrial network protocols, functional safety standards & implementations, redundant systems
Solder and/or ESD certification.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of electronic/mechanical assembly or related experience.
2+ years of experience with assembly equipment and tools (e.g., soldering iron, crimpers, heat gun, hand tools).
1+ years of fabrication of wire harnesses and cable assemblies or related experience.
Understanding and demonstrated application of PWB design principles, practices, and standards.
Experience designing circuit boards, test fixtures, and cabling.
Knowledge with designs that include various microprocessors, microcontroller, sensors, Wifi & BLE, USB, video output, camera, etc. for several applications.
Proficient with PWB CAD design SW - Mentor Xpedition and / or Cadence
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree in a Technical Field, Electronics preferred Strong multi-discipline engineering technical/analytical skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
