Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a talented Ecologist for immediate employment in the Conshohocken, PA office.
The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented environment. This position provides unlimited career growth potential while working with a team comprised of a variety of staff and project managers in support of AECOM’s clients.
There are opportunities to work on large-scale projects or projects further afield than the typical project range if the candidate is interested.
Responsibilities
Leads field events for the collection of abiotic and biotic samples.
Operates, maintains, and trailers boats (14' - 20').
Compiles, evaluates, and analyzes environmental data.
Preparation of reports and other technical documents.
Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
Participate in aspects of proposal preparation and scoping exercises, such as sourcing and seeking quotes from subcontractors/suppliers.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Works under general supervision.
Performs standard scientific work requiring the application of techniques and procedures.
Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
Assists senior staff with business development activities, including proposals, pre-qualifications, and relationship building with clients and prospective clients.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Science, Biology, or related field (e.g., environmental science, ecology) along with a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Valid U.S. Driver's license is required.
U.S. Citizenship is required
This role is subject to MVR, Drug/Alcohol and Medical Surveillance checks
Must be willing to travel for up to a week at a time.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of environmental data collection, investigation, and interpretation
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills.
Experience managing tasks and managing field teams.
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
Must be willing to travel for up to a week at a time.
Position requires field work, which involves work in rugged terrain and inclement weather conditions.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training certificate
Boating experience
Working knowledge of statistical software (e.g., R, ProUCL, etc.)

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $57,000.00 - $63,000.00.
