The Subcontracts Manager is a strategic role and is the primary point of contact for all subcontractors, working with the Program Manager to establish statements of work, negotiating NDAs, pricing, FAR/DFAR flow downs, issuing modifications, and managing a variety of contract types. This role ensures that Nomad’s and the customer’s objectives are achieved, including on-time delivery, exceptional quality, and (budget expectations) with the ability to monitor and assess project issues and develop mechanisms and resolutions to meet goals, while maintaining continuity with the objectives of the Chief of Business Integration and Contracts Manager.

This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate with the customer, subcontractors, and Program Manager are essential. The Subcontracts Manager will work closely with the customer, contracts manager, and Program Manager to ensure a quality product/service is delivered in the required timeframe.

Essential Functions / Responsibility:

  • Provide business and technical leadership necessary to develop subcontract statements of work that ensure goals are met and that the customer receives products and services that meet or exceed expectations.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate subcontracts with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

  • Ensure that the subcontracts comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain a subcontract repository and manage subcontract lifecycles, including renewals and amendments. Pursue and manage new purchasing subcontracts.

  • Monitor and enforce subcontract compliance, including deliverables, milestones, and payment terms.

  • Effectively communicate expectations to subcontractors in a timely and clear fashion. Define success criteria and disseminate to the subcontractors throughout the product life cycle.

  • Identify potential crises and devise contingency plans effectively. Develop innovative strategies that enable nimble response to challenges.

  • Continually collaborate and communicate with the program manager (and contracts manager) on contract scope and progress. Develop and deliver subcontract progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations. Plan and prepare for client engagements.

  • Be knowledgeable of all available contract types and educate the program manager (and contracts manager) on the best contract type to achieve Nomad and client goals.

  • Periodically work off company premises for client visits and other business needs.

    Basic Knowledge Desired:

  • Understand the significance of the Nomad Core Values and apply them.

  • Be knowledgeable of and understand subcontract management activities, such as consortiums, OTAs, FAR, RFP.

  • Understand business law with respect to NDA, subcontract statement of works, teaming agreements, and joint ventures.

  • Be agile, cheerful, and clear headed while managing multiple challenging tasks.

    Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to manipulate, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and is occasionally required to sit.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything heavier than 50 pounds will require two people to lift / carry.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish individual colors.

    Working Environment:

  • The work environment is a partially outdoor environment. Depending upon the time of year, temperatures can fluctuate between 60F and 100F but is typically around 70F.

  • Fast-paced environment, open-concept office area.

  • The employee may be subjected to noise levels, ranging from low volume to loud and will be required to wear provided safety hearing devices from time to time, which will be provided.

  • All Team Members must wear provided OSHA approved eye protection at all times in manufacturing areas. The employee will be required to wear provided safety eyewear throughout the performance of their duties.

    Qualifications & Experience:

  • BA / BS degree in Business, Contract Management, Industrial Technology / Engineering, Management, English or written word, strongly desired.

  • 2-4 years of direct work of managing and establish subcontracts or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Have a client centric perspective.

  • Must present excellent organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
