Job Summary: Duties include, but are not limited to, processing general ledger entries; overseeing and assisting in the daily activities of general ledger accounting by providing guidance and training to support personnel; maintaining the capital assets accounting system; supporting district staff regarding accounting issues; maintaining a continuous internal auditing program for all funds; and preparing statistical and analytical data and reports as required.

Description: Process general ledger entries including monthly transportation, nutrition, payroll, petty cash, purchasing cards, warehouse and other closing entries. Review journal entries to ensure accuracy of the general ledger. Reconcile nutrition and payroll bank accounts at month end. Manage investment account activity and reconciliations. Maintain a continuous internal auditing program for all funds. Manage capital asset subledger and associated depreciation schedule to include maintaining the capital asset module to record, track, monitor and inventory district assets to determine the appropriate acquisition, disposal, or modification of assets. This will involve preparing journal entries for depreciation and related purchase order approval. Prepares fixed asset and depreciation schedule, reconciling with general ledger. Assist with preparation of month end close reports for all funds to include reviewing and posting appropriate journal entries. Oversee and support reconciliations and audits of all Pupil Activity/Investment accounts. Provide guidance and training to all support personnel on accounting software. Reconcile investment and broker accounts. Assist with preparation of audit and accrual entries for year-end closing and annual comprehensive financial report. Secondary liaison/resource including decision making responsibilities for federal, state and district audits and reviews. Maintain accounting system by monitoring revenues and expenditures in all funds. Oversee and assist in the preparation of various financial reports, including variance reports. Assist administrators in identifying the cause of significant variances. Analyze and recommend procedures and systems improvements for fiscal accounting. Maintain current knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements and fiscal accounting best practices by attending workshops and conferences or using online sources. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting or related business field. Three (3) or more years of experience in accounting and/or auditing preferred. Experience with government or school accounting a plus. Advanced writing, communication and interpersonal skills. Intermediate math, critical thinking, analytical, organizational, strong attention to detail, budget and accounting skills. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements. Knowledge of externally funded programs and their accounting requirements. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel, accounting software, standard database systems required. Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with frequent interruption. Valid Colorado driver's license. Criminal background check and District fringerprinting required.
