Timberline Trailcraft LLC Construction Laborers in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Seeking 120 Temp/FT positions in the following counties: Colorado: El Paso, Pueblo, Park, Elbert, Teller, Douglas, Custer, Huerfano, Cheyenne | Job Duties: Constructing a walking trail involves careful planning and design which begins by selecting a route that considers the surrounding terrain, environmental impact, and user experience. The next step is clearing the trail corridor of vegetation, rocks, and other obstructions by using hand tools like shovels, rakes, digging bars, hoes, and other assorted clearing tools. This process ensures a smooth and safe path for walkers. Trail grading is essential to create a stable surface, especially on sloped terrain. This involves leveling the path, installing switchbacks or steps on steep sections, and ensuring proper drainage to prevent erosion. The base layer ensures the trail can withstand foot traffic and weathering without significant degradation. Trail base placement of compacted soil, gravel, or crushed stone will provide a durable, even surface. Includes installation of seed or sod, grass, tree and plant maintenance as required. For high-use or sensitive areas, assisting other skilled workers in placement of more substantial materials such as asphalt, concrete, or boardwalks may be required. To prevent erosion, preparation and placement of features such as water bars, retaining walls, culverts, and drainage ditches. These elements help manage water runoff, ensuring the trail remains intact during heavy rain and over time. Stabilization techniques, like planting vegetation or using geotextiles, may also be applied to reinforce the trail's integrity. Preparing and installing walking trail signage to guide users and provide information about the trail's length, difficulty, and key points of interest. Placement of benches, waste bins, and trailheads with parking or restrooms may be included to enhance the trail experience. The most common maintenance task is repairing the trail surface by filling holes with gravel, reshaping the surface, and compacting the trail to keep it safe and usable. As vegetation grows, it can encroach on the trail, obstructing the path or causing trip hazards. Trail maintenance crews regularly trim low tree branches using hand saw, remove invasive plants with shovels, and clear away fallen trees or brush debris from trail. If erosion has occurred, additional steps like adding retaining walls, re-grading sections of the trail, or reinforcing areas with rocks or vegetation may be necessary. Maintaining signage is crucial to ensuring trail users stay on the correct path.
