Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our client within the defense industry. This role is responsible for managing the accurate and timely processing of invoices, purchase orders, and payments to ensure compliance with both company policies and industry regulations. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, experience with government contracts, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-security environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Invoice Processing: Verify and process a high volume of invoices, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and industry standards.
Data Entry and Management: Accurately enter and maintain records in the ERP system, reconciling accounts and ensuring data integrity.
Payment Processing: Schedule and process vendor payments, including ACH, checks, and wire transfers, in line with company policies.
Audit and Compliance: Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed to ensure compliance with federal regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS).
Vendor Relations: Manage relationships with vendors and respond to payment inquiries, addressing any discrepancies or issues that arise.
Reporting: Prepare and analyze AP reports to monitor and improve accuracy and efficiency, reporting on key metrics.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, finance, and other departments to support contract compliance and streamline processes.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in AP management.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 2-4 years in accounts payable, ideally in defense or government contracting.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP or Oracle preferred) and Excel.
Knowledge: Familiarity with defense industry regulations (FAR, DFARS) is a plus.
Detail-Oriented: Strong accuracy in data processing and account reconciliation.
Security: Ability to obtain a security clearance, if required.
Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for effective vendor and team interaction.
