ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

  • Maintenance Manager – 1st Shift

  • Monday – Friday – 8:00 am-5:00 pm Must be willing to work any shift, including overtime and weekends as needed.

ROLE SUMMARY: This position has overall responsibility for all facets of the maintenance, facilities, and sanitation departments in a lean manufacturing and distribution environment, including direct supervision of both salaried and hourly personnel. The Maintenance Manager provides technical expertise regarding maintenance, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and other technical aspects of the plant operation. This position is also responsible for safe maintenance, repair, or replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum production quality and quantity while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the Company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential job functions):

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), company policies, safety policies and practices, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Responsible at all times for ensuring that tasks are performed according to food safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Responsible at all times for promoting a safety culture and awareness within area of responsibility.

  • Plans, manages, and directs the efforts of the maintenance and electrical work teams to improve operational efficiency, reduce unscheduled downtime, and lower the unit cost of maintenance activity.

  • Directs the analysis of mechanical, operational, and facilities issues with plant equipment and grounds, overseeing the planning and cost-effective implementation of all corrective actions.

  • Directs staff in ensuring all sanitation programs are implemented and adhered to.

  • Coordinates staffing levels, materials, machines, methods, and metrics (measurements) to ensure an effective operation.

  • Works with operations to schedule all maintenance work with minimal downtime.

  • Tracks favorably to all maintenance area Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as, Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs, MRO cycle counts, and inventory turns.

  • Champions active preventative maintenance program, services, and maintains production equipment on a continuous basis.

  • Accountable for maintaining repair parts, inventory, and initiating purchase requisitions as appropriate and within budgeted parameters.

  • Ensures all employees have the resources and capabilities to effectively accomplish their job responsibilities in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Accountable for accurate and timely recording of employee attendance and timekeeping.

  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Incorporates principles of lean manufacturing such as 5S, key TPS elements, etc.

  • Maintains Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.

  • Represents the Company’s interest in dealing with outside contractors, vendors, etc.

  • Fosters and maintains good employee relations through all the appropriate methods of communication and positive employee relations practices.

  • Participates in employment process from the hiring stage through termination.

  • Must be willing to work any shift, including overtime and weekends as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor of Science Degree in related field required. Plant level experience is required.

PREFERED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Five (5) to ten (10) years of broad-based maintenance management experience and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent communications skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media – verbal, written, etc.

  • Excellent organizational/time management skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and employee safety, OSHA standards, product quality, and cost control (minimizing down time and waste while optimizing yield).

  • Ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced work environment, calm under pressure, and flexibility to direct work force and adapt to changing schedules as appropriate.

  • Strong leadership abilities to direct, coach, and train employees as well as plan monitor and schedule work.

  • Ability to provide vision and leadership.

  • Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees.

  • Strong computer skills (SAP and MS Office Suite).

  • In-depth knowledge of production operation, including equipment, materials, workflow, etc.

  • Technical knowledge including PLC/controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, etc.

  • Detail oriented, logical, and methodological approach to problem solving.

  • Demonstrate ambiguity to change.

  • Ability to maintain punctuality and predictable attendance.
