Snowflake Inc. Senior Software Engineer - Data Ingestion Systems in Clyde Hill, Washington

Guided by Snowflake's "no knobs" philosophy, our team focuses on building products that manage orchestration, performance, self-healing, security, and privacy so that customers can focus on their business logic. Leveraging our team's extensive background in building database systems, we create infrastructure that is simple to operate and adaptable to diverse business requirements. Snowflake has widely adopted and embraced Apache Iceberg and this brings a new set of interesting and challenging problems in the data ingestion space. We are looking for exceptional engineers to drive and spearhead development in these new areas. Our team tackles a wide spectrum of technical issues, encompassing distributed systems, ingestion of unstructured and semi-structured data, distributed queuing, and multi-tenant query scheduling. AS A SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER AT SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL: Collaboratively build and execute a vision for ingestion systems in ways that best achieve the company's business objectives. Help define and own the roadmap, working collaboratively and proactively with senior architects, PMs and team leadership. The initiatives include platforms and tools that enable customers to build streaming pipelines on Snowflake natively. Ensure operational excellence of the services and meet the commitments to our customers regarding reliability, availability, and performance. Investigate performance and scalability bottlenecks and develop systems that are highly available and fault-tolerant. Collaborate across other Snowflake core infrastructure teams to continuously improve our development velocity and capabilities at Snowflake. OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE MOST OF THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years industry experience designing and building distributed data systems. Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field. Excellent problem solving skills, and strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems. Experience building systems for public or private clouds. Experience with SQL and/or other database technologies including internal implementations is a plus. Ability to work in a team environment, collaborate well, and mentor junior engineers. The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role: The estimated base salary range for this role is $187,000 - $276,000. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Snowflake's bonus and equity plan. The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
