Title: Network Engineer - Advanced
Location: Clinton Township, NJ
Duration: 12+ months contract
Pay Range $40 - $45/hour
Job Summary
We are looking for a candidate with strong networking and customer-facing skills to support and enhance lab infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with lab techs, researchers, and engineering staff to understand requirements, managing incidents and changes, and ensuring efficient network administration.
Duties involve configuring network devices, handling Active Directory accounts, troubleshooting firewall rules, implementing infrastructure changes, and maintaining security controls. The role also requires modernizing processes, maintaining server infrastructure, and managing data backups.
Technical expertise in Cisco switches, PowerShell, SQL, SentinelOne, and various security and network management tools is essential. The ideal candidate should have experience with Windows Servers, network security, and cloud integrations, with flexibility for occasional after-hours and weekend work.
Responsibilities:
Business interface
Create strong partnerships with lab techs, researchers, and engineering staff (e.g., Informatics teams) to understand their requirements and create solutions as needed.
Incident & change management
Work off a prioritized backlog and respond to break/fix & enhancement requests as needed. Be available both on-site and remotely.
Plan, Implement and Coordinate Infrastructure changes, upgrades, outages
Network administration
Adding network devices, computers, servers to the network and domain
Configuring ports using SolarWinds / submit Port Opening Requests (PORs)
Working frequently with the Network Security, Hosting & Platform Policy teams, and other Site IT Services teams.
Configuring network switches and routers
Troubleshooting ACL and firewall rule connections
Submit procurement requests for networking equipment for annual P&B
Automate/modernize processes
Modernize inventory maintenance
Proactively identify and drive retirement of legacy hardware & OS
Facilitate integrations with L4 solutions and cloud environments
Account creation
Password resets
Active directory maintenance
Folder access
Software installation
Update support documentation as needed
Security & Controls
10 controls annually to review annually (firewall, shared IDs, inactive ID, SolarWinds access, inactive ports, etc.)
Vigilantly operate with privileged IDs and tighten security policies Technology you will work with:

Legacy Windows operating systems
Active Directory
Administer and maintain system accounts through Active Directory

Granting Security Group access
Seeking Approval for Access Requests
Desired Skills:
Server maintenance experience
Be available for quarterly server outages after business hours and occasional weekend outages.
Working knowledge of Windows Server 2003-2019+ File server administration (i.e., build servers)
Domain administration
Troubleshoot group policies
Data backup as a sysadmin (Veeam)
Security patch management (Ivanti maybe SCCM)
FTP servers (WinSCP and MoveIT)
Troubleshooting physical and virtual (VMWare) server issues on various hardware and OS
Antivirus administration (SEP & SentinelOne)
