Position Overview

The Buyer’s p rimary responsibilities will be to identify and negotiate with vendors, and then coordinate purchases.  Eventual career path for this individual would be Sr. Specialist, Sr. Specialist II, Supervisor / Associate Manager, Procurement Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

    • Responsible for procuring all materials and services that are related to the day-to-day business and non-GMP operations.
  • Utilize the NetSuite ERP system to review purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy and generate/issue purchase orders to selected vendors.

  • Provide consistent, professional, timely communication with suppliers to manage on-time delivery of open orders and invoice discrepancies.

  • Work collaboratively with multiple departments within the organization to understand and fulfill purchasing needs (R&D, Technical Operations, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, EH&S, Clinical Operations, Legal, and Commercial). 

  • Support relevant departments by communicating any supply chain issues which may impact current or future clinical trials.  

  • Responsible for relaying any on-going or repeat issues to our suppliers and collaborating with Supplier Quality regarding issuance of any corrective actions.

  • Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practices tools and methods.

  • Maintain and update records on pricing and ordering of materials. 

  • Prepares reports, analyze data, and make recommendations to increase operational efficiencies. 

  • Other duties or projects assigned by management.  

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's (BA) degree or combination of education and experience. 

  • 1-3 years of work experience in material/component procurement; experience in a pharma / biotech manufacturing environment is a plus.

  • Intermediate to advance level in MS Office, experience with ERP systems is a must. 

  • Ability to learn reporting tools. 

  • Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively with all employees

  • Must have good writing skills. 

  • Must have good time management skills and organizational skills. 

  • Ability to work independently or within a team. 

  • Able to prioritize the workload to ensure delivery against tight deadlines.
