Emerson Environment, Health and Safety Manager in CIUDAD DE MEXICO, Mexico

Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible of providing leadership to promote a safety culture and comply with federal, state, and local regulations. This is a key role to develop and implement policies and practices that ensure the safety and well-being of the employees, as well as the protection of the environment. This position is also responsible for the upkeep of the corporate office building, to ensure they are safe and functional, and oversee the management of the company´s fleet of vehicles.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

You will be responsible to coordinate preventative health and wellness programs to drive a reduction in work related injuries, also to provide technical and administrative leadership to ensure compliance with safety regulations, client´s safety requirements and audits, as well as planning, implementing, and tracking related EHS training programs.

Principal activities:

Environmental:

  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation.

  • Develop and implement environmental action plans, to ensure corporate sustainable development.

  • Promote and raise awareness of the impact of emerging environmental issues.

Health

  • Responsible to coordinate Wellbeing program andoccupational health services

  • Working alongside employees to improve and monitor the health and safety standards in the workplace.

  • Create, align and implement a local Occupational Health program.

Safety

  • Ensure regulatory compliance with government regulations and clients environmental, health and safety requirements.

  • Provide a local leadership role for the facility Process Safety Management compliance program.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

  • Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near misses, analyzing root causes and implementing preventive measures to minimize future occurrences.

  • Establish root cause countermeasures derived from incidents, non-conformities, reports of unsafe acts or conditions, etc.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement ergonomic solutions, promote wellness initiatives, and mitigate occupational health risks.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, participating in inspections, audits, and permit applications.

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, and coordinate drills and exercises to ensure preparedness.

  • Plan, develop, and implement effective safety training for new employee orientation and annual required training.

  • Planning, implementing, and tracking related EHS training programs.

  • Manage local EHS budget.

  • Overseeing EHS requirements for contractors.

  • Ensure successful EHS software usage.

  • Allign and coordinate safety initiatives on NOLA region.

  • Keep track of critical safety metrics to measure

Facilities

  • Along with the Facilities Coordinator, oversees building maintenance and coordinate contractors’ services.

  • Manage local facility budget.

  • Ensures security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly.

Fleet Management

  • Along with the Fleet Analyst, oversees administrative and operational activities of fleet maintenance and repairs, administer fuel cards, vehicle assignation and replacements.

  • Carry out a program to comply with vehicle regulations.

  • Oversee car accidents reports and insurance services.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an EHS manager related position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Safety & Health Management, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Technology or Comparable Degree

  • Operating within a global manufacturing/ technology business and a balance of working both strategically and operationally.

  • Must be Bi-lingual (English & Spanish)

  • Excellent leadership qualities, ability to communicate to all levels of the organization.

  • Audit management.

  • Management of STPS standards

  • International safety standards ISO 45001 and environment ISO 14001

  • Legal requirements (Semarnat, Conagua, STPS and applicable to the Site).
