This is a part time position, working Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9am-1pm, which does not offer health insurance. Sick days and vacation time are accrued based on years of service; thirteen paid holidays are earned from start date. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Personal care of clients, including meal assistance, walking, and bathroom use. Interact with clients to help acclimate them to each other and the setting. Handling emergent situations such as exit seeking, confusion, and other behaviors. Support educational, exercise, and art programs for clients. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Education: LPN or RN; Selected candidate will be required to submit proof, in the form of official transcripts, license, and other appropriate information prior to date of hire. • Experience: Three years' experience with elderly care or long-term care. Prefer adult daycare experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. • Knowledge: Knowledge of the diseases of the elderly, especially Alzheimer's and related dementia; Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations. • Abilities: Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, and staff. • Skills: Health monitoring; organization and tracking of health care. • Patience: A gentle approach to modifying behaviors and allowing clients to self-express, safely. WORKING CONDITIONS Physical Demands: Light to moderate physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds; standing, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling needed to assist in care of participants; active responsiveness to exit seeking, behaviors, and falls or stumbles; hand/eye coordination for operation of computer keyboard; vision to read reports and other written material; frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens. Work Environment: Works primarily in an adult day care setting. Equipment used: Stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, scales, blood sugar monitor, personal computer, kitchen equipment.
