Klosterman Baking Company is seeking a Plant Engineer who will lead the engineering department. This includes planning, assigning, and directing all assigned work/ projects within the plant, with a focus on optimizing all engineering functions. This individual will execute an all-encompassing preventative maintenance plan, house all spare parts, and schedule all engineering projects. This position will be responsible to maintain high efficiency and safe engineering practices- keeping employee safety, food safety, and quality top of mind.

Plant Maintenance and Facilities Engineer Responsibilities:

· Manage and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports

· Develop overall plans, including labor, for major maintenance projects, including scheduled downtime projects and/or preventive maintenance

· Perform regular and preventative maintenance, repairs, improvements, and related project work on production equipment, facility, and utility systems in accordance with maintenance standards, keeping a safe and sanitary work environment

· Support the development, control and tracking of maintenance budgets

· Coordinate with planning/scheduling, inventory control and maintenance purchasing teams for all repairs, products, work schedules and meetings

· Must perform root cause analysis of any equipment related downtime event and develop corrective action plan

· Manage the planning/ scheduling of all engineering work using the work order system and computerized maintenance management system

· Communicate with Operations teams and vendors regarding equipment issues and capital projects

· Must provide hands-on support on the plant floor for assigned engineering projects and troubleshoot day-to-day equipment performance issues.

· Will be held accountable to Food Safety and Quality Principles

· Ensure that all HACCP and CCP guidelines as established by QA are followed

Requirements

Plant Maintenance and Facilities Engineer Requirements:

  • · Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or other Engineering strongly preferred

  • · Experience with 3 phase and low voltage power is required

  • · Experience with fasteners, hand & power tools, precision measurement tools, gearboxes, bearings, rotating equipment, and assembly/disassembly of machinery is required

  • · Extensive knowledge and ability to weld and fabricate required

  • · Experience with photo eyes, prox. switches, etc. is required

  • · Strong leadership and teamwork capabilities is an essential requirement

  • · Experience with general plumbing using PVC, Copper and black iron pipe required

  • · Must have good communication skills, be self-motivated and detail oriented

  • · Experience and knowledge in dealing and working with: FDA, HACCP, OSHA, and GMPs is required

  • · Proficient in budgeting, project management, and resource allocation.

  • · Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse workforce.

  • · Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • · Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

  • · Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in facility management.

  • · 5-10 years of Food Manufacturing Engineering experience is required

  • · Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred
