Job Summary:
The City of Cimarron, Kansas is seeking an energetic, innovative, self-motivated individual for the full-time
position of General Maintenance/Operator for the Public Works Department. Primary duties include the
maintenance of City-owned properties and systems, including streets, parks, water, and wastewater. Scheduled
work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM, with paid holidays. Weekend on-call hours and
overtime are periodically required.
Supervisory Responsibil i t ies:
None.
Duties/Responsibi l i t ies:
Operate street, park, water, and wastewater equipment.
Required on-call rotation and storm/emergency call outs.
Maintain city properties, streets, parks, water, and wastewater systems.
Attend safety and technical trainings as needed.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Required Skil ls /Abi li t ies:
Knowledge of City ordinances and traffic laws.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Knowledge of safety regulations.
Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
Must have a valid Kansas drivers license.
Educat ion and Experience:
Experience in Public Works or a related field preferred but not required.
Current Kansas Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred but not required on date of hire. Must
obtain Kansas CDL within 6 months of hire.
Operators License in Water and Wastewater preferred but not required on date of hire.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at times.
Ability to work in all climates and weather conditions.
Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel squat, drive, jump, and perform other physical movements as needed.
