-- -- -- -- Job Title: Golf Course Manager Reports To: General Manager and Owner Direct Reports: Grounds Supervisor, Equipment Supervisor and Operator, Golf Cart Mechanic, Small Engine Repair Mechanic, Pest Control Technician, Irrigation Technician, Groundskeeper Status: Exempt Scope and General Purpose: The Golf Course Manager manages the maintenance of the golf course, which includes but is not limited to plant and weed identification, water testing of ponds, regular maintenance and operation of mechanical equipment including mowers, utility trucks, sprayers, department vehicles, tractors, chain saws, weed eaters, hand tools and other types of departmental equipment. The Golf Course Manager ensures that the golf course is kept in the best possible condition as is expected of a luxury hotel 18-hole course. Work is performed under general supervision of the General Manager and is subject to review through inspection, discussion, and by the reaction and comments of those who use the facilities of the golf course. The Golf Course Manager also oversees all pest control applications done around the hotel. Main Duties: - Manages, supervises and oversees the day-to-day maintenance of the golf course and plans, organizes, oversees and coordinates the workflow and operating efficiency of the department's work crew. - Ensures that the course fairways, roughs, greens, tee areas and open spaces are mowed, watered and sprayed as needed. - Manages, supervises and oversees seeding, top dressing and soil conditioning of the golf course. - Applies or supervises the application of fertilizers and pesticides to golf course as needed. - Monitors and assists in the installation and maintenance of sprinkler system. - Ensures that golf course maintenance shop and equipment are kept clean, well- organized and hazard free. Operates and or supervises the operating of the department's equipment including mowers and tools and ensures all parts, machinery and related equipment are maintained in an excellent state of repair. Oversees or performs the repairs or servicing of water pumps, sprinkler heads and related equipment. Daily inspection of the course to ensure highest standards are being maintained Staff Management: - Oversee the supervision of personnel, including work allocation organization and prioritization. - Deal with complaints and differences and coach employees how to resolve and de-escalate conflicts. - Evaluate performances and make recommendations for personnel actions. - Train and coach supervisors and other employees in leadership skills and exemplary conduct and performance. - Motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. - Create timetables for completion of special work projects and follow through to conclusion. - Introduce an inspection program and inventory of tools and equipment, involving staff, to ensure equipment is consistently maintained and in proper repair and working order. General: - Remain cost conscious as regards all expenses including, tools and equipment purchases, staff payroll and all other costs which apply to the department. - Develop, plan and implement short-and-long range goals for continuing improvement of the course and the skills of the workers. Ensure compliance with hotel and departmental policies and procedures for the safe and efficient operation of all tools and equipment. Ensure staff trained in the safe and proper handling of all chemicals and that safety standards are maintained. Ensure that only employees with valid drivers' licenses operate machinery. Ens
