Ocean Point Terminals HR Generalist (Human Resources Generalist) in Christiansted, Virgin Islands

HR Generalist (level commensurate with experience) SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position works in partnership with assigned client groups to provide support, training, coaching, and influence that will enable the business to effectively manage staffing, performance, organizational development and employee/labor relations issues. The position will coordinate and implement HR services, policies and programs to help the business meet present and future goals. Additionally, this position will also serve as a strategic partner as well as an employee advocate and change agent, and deliver best practice HR solutions that support the needs of each client group. QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field is required; PHR, SPHR or SHRM-S/CP certification preferred. {=html} - A minimum of 8 years as an HR professional in a fast-paced organization. Prior chemical, manufacturing, terminal operations or related industry experience required. Five years of employee relations specific experience involving managing all aspects of employment investigations and conflict resolution required. - Prior experience working on employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and policy compliance, while maintaining accuracy and timely resolution is required. - Strong knowledge of VI and Federal employment laws required. - Direct experience as a management representative working with all levels of the organization relative to the interpretation of HR policies and all levels of employee discipline matters is required. - A working knowledge of HR policies, procedures and employee benefits. - A working knowledge of FLSA, EEOC, ADA, FMLA and related regulations. - Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in making recommendations. - Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral. - Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization as well as external vendors and employment candidates. - Results driven with strong planning and organization skills. Ability to work independently. - Ability to multi-task and prioritize work at a fast pace under tight deadlines is important. - Proficiency in MS Office products to include MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. and HRIS systems is required. - Ability to work extended hours as needed and work alternate work schedules to accommodate meetings and investigations for personnel who work a shift schedule. - Attention to detail and thorough follow-through is a must. - Valid driver's license and Transportation Worker's Identification Card (TWIC) required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - This position is generally in an office setting. - Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, push and pull items, reach overhead, stoop and squat.
