[POSITION SUMMARY [This role will be responsible for performing technical work, which involves the operation of photographic equipment to record the oscilloscopic screening pictures. Work may also involve interpreting through comparison with known normal anatomy structures and the oscilloscopic pattern of pictures. *[POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES ]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}* 1. Position patient in a recumbent or left lateral position. 2. Applies transducer to the part of the body under study. 3. Interprets through comparison with knowing normal anatomic structures, the oscilloscopic pattern or picture. 4. Produces accurate tracing in order to recognize serious problems and interpret results. 5. Formulates appropriate question before administering the examination so as to know what answers must be obtained in order to make the study clinically useful. 6. Operates photographic equipment to record the oscilloscopic screen pictures. 7. Prepares photographic slides for permanent record and teaching purposes, also prepares a clinical file, including interpretations and photographs. 8. Conducts conferences with staff physicians to review findings and to obtain pertinent information to aid in ultrasound technique and interpretation of findings. Assists in teaching physicians and technologists how to operate the equipment, perform and interpret examinations. 9. Operates the treadmill for diagnosis or functional assessment of patients with cardiac disease. 10. Explains the procedure to the patient and obtains informed consent. 11. Prepares the skin for electrode placement, attaches the electrodes, and records baseline electrocardiograms with maneuvers. 12. Measures blood pressures before, during, and after exercise, and records heart rates, calculates double products, exercise duration, functional aerobic impairment, and other physiologic induce. 13. Performs other duties as required. [REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""} 1. Two (2) years academic study with at least twelve (12) semester hours in any combination of scientific subjects such as biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, medical technology, or physics. 2. Two (2) years work experience in a related field. 3. At least six (6) semester hours must be directly related to echocardiography technology; OR: 4. A High School Diploma or equivalent with nine (9) months specialized training in related field, plus three (3) years on-the-job experience in a hospital or medical setting. 5. Applicant must be nationally registered and certified by the American Society of Echocardiography.
