Job Summary

The Department of Medicine, Section of Cardiology is looking for an Animal Health Technician to work on Cardiac electrophysiology research, specifically with an expertise in large animal cardiovascular research such as: open chest electrophysiological procedures, creation of large animal models of atrial fibrillation, gene therapy procedures, trans-venous electrophysiological procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with animal experimentation, including large animal cardiovascular research such as: open chest electrophysiological procedures, creation of large animal models of atrial fibrillation, gene therapy procedures, trans-venous electrophysiological procedures, creation of myocardial infarction in porcine and canine models, electrophysiological mapping of the atria and ventricles.
  • Record findings/results.
  • Help with lab maintenance, ordering of supplies, stocking shelves, clean up.
  • Perform basic lab technique (making of buffers, pipetting, immunoblots, PCR, microscopy).
  • Performing experiments for specific projects.
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Help with scheduling, budgeting, and management of lab.
  • Perform daily pacemaker checks on dogs, collected DSI data, conducted experiments.
  • Assist vets with surgeries and procedures.
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
