Job Description

Dynamic leader to direct the operation of college dining units, including contracts, cash, catering and special events. Plan, coordinate, and manage operations with annual sales volume of approximately $3.5 million or greater. Execute annual budgeting and ongoing cost and revenue control, supervision of a management/ chef team, full-time employees, and a large pool of part-time and student employees, and active involvement in marketing efforts including soliciting and responding to customer comments and suggestions. Lead, develop, and mentor competent and harmonious management and employee work team; appraising of problems and coaching for immediate

improvement. Plan and coordinate catered events. Participate in departmental policy development. Instruct and implement quality management standards. Creatively develop and initiate programs,

methods, and procedures for short-and long -range plans of unit(s). Demonstrate and implement quality assurance program within assigned units(s). Responsible for the effective scheduling of all staff and personnel utilization ensuring budgetary goals are met. Develop,direct, and implement on-the-job training of all unit management, professional and student staff. Model 0 on-going, proactive communication with subordinates, colleagues, and customers. Interview, select, train,

develop, evaluate, and motivate employees for unit(s)as directed. Recommend and assess purchase of equipment and supplies, policy changes. Oversee all food production responsibilities. Demonstrated knowledge of function, cost, and purpose of food items, food service equipment, and supplies. Plan and execute unit catered events and participate in department special events. Ensure proper operations of the unit through daily inspection, noting conditions and methods of operation. prepare, administer, and achieve budgetary objectives, including performance tracking and payroll.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $91,400 to $114,250; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management or Business Administration. Extensive relevant experience in combination with education may substitute for education.

  • ServeSafe Sanitation Certified.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a mutli-unit food service operation.

  • Computer literacy and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of office technologies, and demonstrated knowledge and application of high quality food presentation, sanitation, and customer service.

  • Ability to manage and work effectively with students, faculty, and staff clientele in high-volume and fast-paced environment.

  • Must have outstanding organizational, communication, human relations, and interpersonal skills and be able to coordinate and gain the cooperation of a large and diverse staff.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills helpful. Must know quality food preparation, production and service.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends throughout the year.

  • High degree of enthusiasm, initiative, judgment, problem solving and resourcefulness is required. Ability to make work fun and productive for the staff.
