Job Description

The Fiscal Assistant is responsible for daily accounting, reconciliation, financial reports, and assistance with research and problem solving that supports Auxiliary Services’ multi-department operations. Create and maintain various electronic financial spreadsheets, workbooks and processes used in the accounting cycle; and assist in executing essential procedures and processes for daily cash accounting, debit card accounting, inventory entries, accounts payable, and communication regarding service with vendors and customers. Also, monitor Vendors and Apex data accuracy, month end close, temp agency invoices, the processing of invoices, resolution of vendor inquiries, and the production of various reports required to maintain a smooth flow of financial accountability.

Performs People-Soft downloads and input to support reconciliation activities. Performs daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations for the multiple assigned departments. Creates and posts journal entries via uploads from spreadsheets or manually. Alters and maintains file structure for multiple and diverse spreadsheets and templates used for creation of monthly accounting team worksheets. Produces reports from databases in support of various transaction activity and inquiry. Extract external receivable data from general ledger; summarize data and assist in the collection of outstanding receivables.

Hiring Range: $22.67/hr to $28.34/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Requirements:

-Two to three years of accounting support experience. Experience in retail accounting is a plus.

-Solid understanding of, and ability to demonstrate, core accounting concepts

-Familiarity with POS terminals and credit card processing systems

-Knowledge of food service industry, and accompanying accounting concepts.

-Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, transaction intensive environment.

-Must have strong human relation skills.

-Proficient computer skills with expertise in Excel, Word, and other products in the Microsoft Office suite of products

-Knowledge in various accounting systems including PeopleSoft Financials

-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

-Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting, preferred; Extensive relevant experience may substitute for the specific degree.
