The vision for Books org is to make every book ever published, in any language, available for every customer in less than 60 seconds. The Books shopping Experience team plays a key role in making this vision happen by providing shopping experiences that helps customers discover their next book to read. Customers shop for Kindle books from a variety of surfaces including desktops/laptops, Kindle E-ink devices, Fire Tablets and mobile browser on their phones and tablets. We provide shopping experiences for customers no matter where they are and what device they have.
The Books Shopping Operations and Improvements team is dedicated to enhancing the customer shopping experience by ensuring high-quality service and operational excellence. We focus on implementing cutting-edge automation solutions, improving AI-driven processes, and building tools and optimizing infrastructure to support multiple teams within our organization.
We are seeking a talented and motivated Systems Development Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in driving improvements in automation, AI processes, and building tools, driving migrations to enhance the overall customer experience in our books shopping platform. You will work closely with various teams to build scalable and robust solutions that elevate our operational standards and deliver actionable insights from customer feedback.
The ideal candidate should be detail oriented, have strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure. You must be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages. You must be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments and work to improve the customer experience.
Key job responsibilities
As Systems Development Engineer, you will
Manage ambiguity: Independently take steps necessary to understand complex technologies and customer use cases across a variety of customer personas and product categories to produce meaningful insights that drive improved customer experience.
Invent and simplify methodologies: Plan, design, and develop a portfolio of methodologies, tools, and systems for data collection and data analysis. Continuously innovate and improve processes to optimize efficiencies.
Implementing software components to fix/mitigate single point of failures, bottlenecks, and unreliable dependencies.
Analyzing the architecture of a service to propose and make changes for fully automating the infrastructure management and continuous deployments
Provide day‐to‐day operations support to Books Shopping Experience teams.
Identify and remove scaling bottlenecks in large-scale distributed systems.
Design, Development and implement automation solutions that can be leveraged by multiple teams within the organization.
Ensure scalability, reliability and efficiency of automation processes.
Collaborate with AI and machine learning teams to enhance and expand AI automation capabilities.
Develop innovative AI solutions to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of our shopping platform.
Develop new tools to improve operational excellence and efficiency.
Build mechanism to collect, analyze, and publish meaningful actions based on customer feedback data.
Develop systems to aggregate and analyze customer feedback data
Create dashboards and reporting tools to provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
Contribute materially to team’s roadmap, and constantly help to determine what’s most important. - Together, you and your leadership team will decide on the projects that best support your team’s mission.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with partner teams, both local and remote, in completing interdependent work items

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science with 3+ years of experience in a Software Engineering, DevOps, or Systems Engineering capacity.
Proven experience in a system development, automation and quality assurance
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud platforms
Knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Experience with AI and machine learning technologies is highly desirable
