Emerson Senior Engineer - Purchase in CHENNAI, India

Job Summary:

Are you ready to take your engineering career to the next level? Emerson is seeking a highly motivated Senior Purchase Engineer to join our world-class team in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. As a Senior Purchase Engineer, you will exhibit a strong work ethic and demonstrate exceptional proficiency in ensuring flawless and efficient procurement processes, enabling us to compete in the global market.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Create and manage vendor codes, including document requirements and non-disclosure agreements

  • Floating RFQ, negotiating prices, obtaining necessary approvals, processing purchase orders, and following up on payments

  • Finalize contracts for capital equipment and handle import terminologies

  • Apply technical expertise to manage the procurement of mechanical spare parts, such as bearings, belts, welding products, pumps, etc.

  • Set prices for service-related activities such as repairs and maintenance

  • Manage transport contracts, review and approve invoices, and ensure timely payments

  • Handle and coordinate fabrication-related jobs, ensuring proper specifications, BOM, and drawings

  • Finalize prices for annual activities, including annual rate contracts and annual maintenance contracts

  • Source and evaluate suppliers based on user requirements

  • Provide regular updates to internal customers on inquiries and open orders

  • Proficiently handle data manipulation in Excel and effectively communicate findings through presentations

  • Perform basic import purchase processes

  • Review, process, and follow-up on payment requisitions

  • Collaborate with the legal team to manage the execution of legal and commercial contracts.

  • Collaborate effectively with the team and take ownership of day-to-day activities

  • Basic knowledge of working with Oracle (not mandatory)

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Proven experience of minimum 5 years in procurement processes, including vendor management, negotiation, and purchase order processing

  • Strong technical knowledge in mechanical spare parts

  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal customers and provide timely updates

  • Attention to detail and ability to work with strict deadlines

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Ownership mentality and strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering Mechanical or related field,

  • Familiarity with import purchase processes

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Collaborate with teams from different departments to successfully conduct cost reduction initiatives

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Oracle including Excel and presentation software.

  • Awareness about EMS & ISO 45001 practices, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015 procedures
