Responsibilities

The Sterile Processing Supervisor is responsible for daily tasks in all three areas to include decontamination, assembly room, and sterile room in support of the Sterile Processing Department and personnel. They are accountable to the Manager of Sterile Processing for the coordination of duties such as: work assignments, productivity goals, assisting with staff compliance of hospital and departmental policies and procedures and objectives. This includes: CSIQ tray tracking for productivity and monitoring biological compliance, presenting staff with their tray errors, minor disciplinary documentation in the form of matter of records when needed under the supervision of the SPD Manager, yearly evaluation assistance, and supporting performance improvement projects. In addition they promote a positive environment and cooperative staff effort with our customers and other shifts to provide the highest quality of support to assure excellent patient care and cost effective operations. In addition to other duties as assigned.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Complies and provides direction on hospital, personnel, and department operational policies, procedures and

assignments concerning CSIQ software system, safety, infection control, and equipment in the Sterile Processing

department.

  • Supervises Sterile Processing associates and demonstrates leadership skills in direction of the activities of team

members and the delegation of responsibility.

  • Assists with evaluating performance of new staff members

  • Actively promotes team unity and trust. Supports all other leaders in a positive manner. Leads all sterile processing

staff in a positive way by encouraging, development, caring, and providing recognition and praise.

  • Checks surgery schedule daily to assure all instruments needed for same day or turnover are processed correctly and ready for use to prevent case delays. Inventories sterile room shelves for needed instruments for emergencies. Delegates next day needs to staff to assure case carts and departmental instruments are completed.

  • Assists in daily SPD department duties deemed necessary during their shift to include decontam, sterile room,

and assembly.

  • Acts as liaison for surgery, physicians, and hospital department’s communications. Assists all personnel in a

positive manner to locate instruments needed for a case.

  • Daily maintains biological and sterilization records for steam, and sterrad using CSIQ according to

departmental procedures to assure all biological tasks are completed.

  • Participates in the SPD leader on-call rotation, inclement weather rotation, and the flexing of work schedules

when needed.

  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Instrument Technician certification through International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) within 6 months of hire

Advanced ability to identify, assemble, decontaminate instrumentation

Helps to mentor new staff when needed

Intermediate Windows, Google Docs, Sheets, and Gmail specific skills

$18.74 - $25.77 /hour
