Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Chattanooga, Tennessee
Description
We are looking for experienced Multi-State Payroll Specialists to assist our clients in the Chattanooga area! In these roles as a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the payroll process for employees across multiple states. You will be responsible for processing payroll, reviewing timekeeping records, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. You will also serve as a point of contact for employees with questions related to payroll.
Key Responsibilities:
Process payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Review and reconcile timekeeping records, ensuring compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations
Ensure compliance with state and federal payroll regulations, including tax withholdings, wage and hour laws, and reporting requirements
Serve as a point of contact for employees with questions related to payroll, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner
Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee information, pay rates, and deductions
Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including pay stubs, W-2s, and tax forms
Work with HR and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll-related transactions
Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll regulations and best practices

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in multi-state payroll processing
Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations, tax withholding, and wage and hour laws
Experience with payroll processing software, such as ADP, Paychex, UltiPro or UKG
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other office software
