University of Virginia Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Trainee - Earn While You Learn Program in Charlottesville, Virginia
The UVA Earn While You Learn Trainee Program provides structured coursework and paid on-the-job-training as a full-time, benefitted employee. EMTs are responsible for performing emergency medical treatment communication and transport to the Medical Center. The EMT-Basic is an entry-level basic life support professional who is capable of functioning independently at the basic life support level but is still focused on gaining knowledge and experience.

Competitive salary + benefits.
You will be paid a total of 40 hours/week. All course and certification fees will be paid for by UVA Health in return for 1 year FULL-TIME commitment as an employee at UVA Health once course is completed.
Emergency Medical Technician ( EMT ) Trainee - Earn While You Learn Pr ogram
Assesses and treats ill and injured patients in accordance with local and University Protocols.
Maintains safety as a primary role through out all aspects of care and transportation.
Identifies potential areas for improved care.
Interfaces effectively with peers and customers and assumes responsibility for professional development of self and others per department policy.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Experience: No experience required.
Licensure: No licensure/certifications are required to apply to this role.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps), and driving. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, noise, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
