Insight Global Data Quality/Test Engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina
Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Data Quality Test Engineer to establish QA processes for a large data warehouse initiative.
Responsibilities:
Process Establishment: Develop and implement processes to determine what tasks should be automated versus manual, and create the necessary structure for these decisions.
Contractor Guidance: Provide direction and support to contractors, helping them establish effective workflows.
API and Backend Testing: Perform API calls to retrieve JSON responses and ensure the website displays data correctly. Write and validate SQL queries against API responses.
o SQL Expertise: Query large databases (100 million records) in a data warehouse environment, including slicing/dicing large datasets, querying indexes, and using query optimizers.
Automation Goals: Aim to automate APIs using Python or Java scripts to ensure data consistency between API calls and SQL queries.
Immediate Tasks: Collaborate with developers to write SQL statements and manually call APIs.
Leadership Opportunity: Lead the QA efforts, create test cases, and automate processes once familiar with the system.
Quality Assurance: Deep understanding of quality theory and best practices, addressing gaps in the data team's support functions.
Project and Technical Cleanup: Balance project work with technical cleanup, ensuring data quality and confidence.

Skills and Requirements
Strong understanding of QA best practices
Experience gathering test cases, writing test cases, etc.
Strong data quality background comfortable analyzing data, data cleanup
Experience working with extremely large data sets
Heavy SQL experience experience writing complex SQL queries
Experience/knowledge of JSON
Using POSTMAN (or similar) to make API calls
Excellent communication skills, comfortable building relationships with stakeholders
Can operate and work independently, a self starter Python
Experience building up QA function within an organization null
