Certification - Association of Child Life Professionals, required.

Location : Presbyterian Medical Center

Department : NICU

Hours : Full Time, Monday - Friday 40 hours per week (Day Shift)

About the Role:

As a Child Life Specialist, you will provide emotional, developmental, and therapeutic support to pediatric patients and families, helping them navigate medical, surgical, and diagnostic experiences. This senior role includes mentorship, program development, and leadership opportunities within our multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

· Patient & Family Support – Implement child life programs to reduce stress, anxiety, and trauma during hospitalization.

· Clinical Leadership – Mentor, train, and support new and existing Child Life staff.

· Program Development – Create and coordinate new child life programs for enhanced patient care.

· Education & Advocacy – Work with schools and organizations to educate about patient conditions, treatment plans, and emotional well-being.

· Multidisciplinary Collaboration – Educate healthcare teams on best practices for pediatric patient care.

· Research & Development – Contribute to research projects and present at conferences on Child Life topics.

Qualifications

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Recreational Therapy, Psychology, or related field, required. Graduate Degree, preferred.

  • Experience: 5 years, required. A total of 10,400 hours as a Certified Child Life specialist or 8,320 hours.

  • Licensure/Certification: Certification - Assoc of Child Life Professionals, required.
