Crane 1 Services, Inc. Inspection Supervisor in Charleston, West Virginia

Reports to: Branch / Regional Manager

The Inspection Supervisor will often be a player/coach responsible for assembling and leading a high-performing, customer-focused team. The Inspection Supervisor assists with recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining employees by deploying a servant leadership role and leveraging all Crane 1 support resources. This is a demanding, 'hands-on', entrepreneurial position that requires a person with the ability to prioritize and complete a wide variety of management and operational-oriented activities. It is a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. A great amount of interaction is required, this position will be a key member of our growing operations and sales leadership team. Familiarity with managing operations in a service-based, industrial maintenance and repair business is important. Inspection Supervisor Role & Responsibilities

  • Plan/assign/manage field labor hours to maximize productivity (direct labor average) at or above budgeted minimums.

  • Maximize margin levels on service work.

  • Perform invoicing frequently and maintain the open orders report.

  • Monitor quotes for accurate labor hours, travel costs, rental costs and procured items and report to management any significant deviations from original job plans or scope of work changes.

  • Track and follow up on leads brought in by field technicians and inspectors.

  • Process and maintain all parts-only requests throughout the sales cycle.

  • Create arrangements for delivery and assist in follow-up and close of repair from inspection quotations.

  • Assist technicians with the identification of required repair parts. Procure required materials, parts, and equipment for work assignments. Process related paperwork upon completion of work assignments and within the accounting month that the work was performed.

  • Provide technical guidance to customers and technicians via telephone support or facilitate contact with appropriate resources to support the need.

  • Resolve customer complaints to the satisfaction of the customer and in the best interest of CRANE 1.

  • Assist the Operations Manager or Branch Manager with conducting spot inspections and audits of the service technicians’ equipment and vehicles and record the results.

  • Other duties assigned.

Inspection Supervisor Requirements

KNOWLEDGE: minimum of (2) years’ technical degree or equivalent experience, or a combination of education and experience that illustrates a proven track record in this field.

SKILLS:

  • A competitive nature to meet and exceed sales goals.

  • A track record of strong communication skills.

  • Understanding of the industrial maintenance and repair business.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.

  • Understanding of AP & AR processes and financials is a plus.

  • Understanding of the OSHA/ANSI standard.
