VCA Charles Towne Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced and motivated Veterinary Assistant Supervisor to lead our patient care team!

We are an AAHA-accredited 3-doctor general practice hospital in Charleston, SC, offering preventative and illness care, surgery and dentistry services. We are located in the West Ashley area of Charleston, close to great restaurants, shopping, and the Greenway trail.

Why We Want You:

This role will allow you to take the skills and experience you’ve gained over your years in this profession and put them to great use in our hospital. This is a working supervisory position which is responsible for the leadership and development of the patient care team. Technical skills that you will be utilizing include:

  • Venipuncture

  • Catheter placement

  • Radiology

  • Anesthesia monitoring

  • Physical examinations and patient assessment

  • Surgical preparation and assisting

  • Dentistry

  • Laboratory work

  • Pharmacy

  • Patient recovery

  • Compassionate patient care

Supervisory duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing leadership, training and support to our patient care team

  • Implementing department policies and procedures

  • Scheduling staff and conducting team meetings

  • Enforcing charge captures

  • Accurately handling and recording controlled drugs

  • Record keeping

  • Marketing

  • Facility maintenance

Ideal Qualifications:

  • One or more years of Leadership/Management experience as a Veterinary Assistant

  • Ability to multitask, effectively handle stressful and emotional situations

  • Able to work well independently as well as part of a team

  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, self-starter with a professional and positive attitude

  • Enjoys mentoring and training others

  • Flexibility with work schedule

  • Willing to enhance technical skills

  • Ability to thrive in a steady and often fast paced environment

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues and pet parents

  • Proven ability to keep accurate patient records

  • Strong ability to problem-solve
