Serco Mechanical Assembler in Charleston, South Carolina

Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for their NSC2I contract providing C5ISR integration and testing for surface ship new construction. Our team procures, assembles, integrates and tests communication and network systems to ensure the safety of the sailors and to allow them to perform their missions successfully.

You will be part of a team of technicians that works closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality systems. The team has been recognized by the Navy and the industry for their outstanding contributions to the contract and program.

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for fabrication and assembly of various electromechanical and electronic assemblies, connectors and shipboard equipment racks.

  • Follow blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to complete tasks.

  • May perform duties as a fire watch and welder`s helper as well as assembling large scale and intricate mechanical assemblies.

  • Receive technical guidance from supervisor or higher level technician and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.

  • Be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within field.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 1 year shipboard installation/integration experience

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

  • The ability to work climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position, lift 50 pounds or pulling up to 40 pounds

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • The ability to work second, or thirds shift as needed and willing to work more than 40 hours work weeks

  • An active DoD Secret clearance

  • Experience in the fabrication and precision assembly of various mechanical assemblies
