CITY OF CHAMPLIN Assistant Program Coordinator in Champlin, Minnesota
The Assistant Program Coordinator is a seasonal position that is primarily responsible assisting Program Coordinators with specific youth programs to provide recreational enjoyment for its participants. This role will assist with the development, planning, organizing, and administering youth programs under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and/or Recreation Manager. This position will interact with the youth, public, businesses, and other groups in a professional, courteous, safe, and respectful manner. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for monitoring specific youth programs and enforcing youth program rules. Establish a friendly and positive rapport with facility customers, employees, general public, and promote a respectful and friendly environment for all. Responsible for setup and cleanup of program equipment and location and securing equipment. Report any potentially dangerous conditions, accidents, and damage to the Recreation Department. Responsible for maintaining safety procedures, such as but not limited to monitoring weather, first aid kit supplies, and enforcing rules. Responsible for assisting Program Coordinators with the development, planning, and preparation of daily lesson plans and activities. Maintaining program direction and discipline while conducting youth programs. Receives and provides program feedback to recreation supervisors and to participates and parents when appropriate. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. KNOWELDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of youth program practices and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with general public and staff while displaying political agility and discretion. Ability to follow-through with work assignments, provide self-direction, and maintain safety procedures. Ability to provide good customer service skills to a diverse customer base and effectively communicate with customers, general public, staff, and others. Ability to work independently, making decisions based on established City policy, standards and requirements. Ability to work effectively and provide a positive environment for children.
