Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Analyzes, designs, and develops computer software required to support high throughput data pipelines for network traffic parsing. Reviews system architecture and selects and implements appropriate development and support tools to ensure product performance. Tests and debugs related software to ensure quality of code. Incumbents typically have a BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates advanced subject matter expertise in computer networks, protocols, and C/C++.

• Contributes to and may lead the planning and implementation of large programs in the function, and regularly interfaces with senior management and executive leadership.

• Supports leadership through strategic planning and mentorship of junior engineers.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree and typically 8+ years of related professional experience. An advanced degree may be preferred at this level.

Parsons' Cyber and Intelligence Market is looking for a team leader who will be able to derive software requirements from customer interaction, identify improvements and/or new capabilities for the system, and guide their team toward completion of tasks according to project schedules.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop, accomplish, and excel in each of the following functions:

  • Lead a software development effort by creating a technical roadmap for development and stories/tasks for individual contributors

  • Conduct rapid software prototyping to demonstrate and evaluate technologies

  • Conduct applied research in the areas of current and emerging computer technology and make recommendations based on research and analysis

  • Investigate commercial and custom SDKs and APIs to identify additional capabilities

  • Develop and maintain software architecture, and make recommendations for improvement

  • Conduct hands-on programming using C++, Python, or Java

  • Leverage modern C++, and libraries such as DPDK, Boost, Intel TBB, and FFmpeg

  • Utilize Protobuf / gRPC and message bus systems for process communication

  • Desire to write highly efficient multithreaded code

  • Develop, compile, debug, test, deploy, document, and implement programs for new and existing systems (COTS / GOTS / Proprietary)

  • Interface and communicate with other development teams for collaboration and integration efforts

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or another related field. (Four years of additional work experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.)

  • 5+ years of professional experience developing in C++ 3+ years of experience working with Linux systems

  • 2+ years of experience working with networking protocols, and tools such as Wireshark

  • TS/SCI clearance required

  • Must be willing to take a polygraph according to contract requirements if selected and not already possessing poly clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with network routing, TCP/IP protocols

  • Expertise in video, audio, or media over IP (VOIP/MOIP) technology

  • Familiarity with cellular and/or 5G networks

  • Familiarity with CI/CD through Gitlab (preferred) or other platforms

  • Ability to work in an operationally-driven environment with fluid requirements depending on operational need

  • Familiarity with Jira or similar Agile tools, experience leading teams using Agile methods

  • Familiarity with virtualized environments and distributed/parallel systems

  • Experience seeing a software project through from concept to deployment/maintenance

Salary Range:

$117,000.00 - $227,900.00
