Basic Function
HF Sinclair Casper Refining is seeking an Engineering Intern, who under close and frequent supervision, assists engineers by performing routine engineering assignments for the Captial Projects Department.
Job Duties

Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians in his/her discipline group.
May be required to do some or all of the following:
Performengineering design calculations, sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment.
Conductresearch to develop new and improved structures.
Assist with design and planlayout for chemical processes on a commercial scale.
Implementprocessing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost-efficient manner.
Reviewengineering drawings and recommendnecessary changes.
Researchdesign options and documents findings for project engineers and/or engineering managers.
Survey construction areas to plan equipment and piping layouts.
Assist with other duties assigned by project engineers and / or engineering managers.
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from timeto time in their sole and complete discretion.

Education Level
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering with a 3.0 grade average or higher (transcript required). Completion of Sophomore level engineering courses needed for a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering are required.
PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
Completion of Junior level engineering courses is preferred.
Required Skills
Basic knowledge of commonly used engineering concepts and ability to apply this knowledge analytically. Basic ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and processes is essential. Basic knowledge of Microsoft products.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Experience with engineering software is preferred.

Physical Requirements
Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 200 ft, perceive color differences, required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards are not permitted), ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential (inability to maintain standard insurance rates is grounds for dismissal), valid State driver license and proof of insurance required.Depending on location must satisfactorily complete a comprehensive medical physical examination. Job conditions may require twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.
