MetLife Observability Engineer in Cary, North Carolina
Role Value Proposition:
The Enterprise Monitoring team in the Observability & Reliability organization is looking for an Associate Engineer to join a diverse team with responsibility for Infrastructure, Application, Network, Container, and Log monitoring platforms. These platforms help ensure stability for critical infrastructure and applications, and they provide valuable performance metrics to the business, allowing for better insight into the entire IT landscape. O & R is a growing organization responsible for Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Knowledge, Service Desk, and Major Incident Management.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop a strong technical understanding of MetLife Observability & Monitoring platforms
Provide guidance and Tier 3 platform support to internal stakeholders
Investigate, troubleshoot, and remediate issues with platforms & data collection
Work with stakeholders to develop new solutions according to business needs
Automate manual processes using available tools or custom code
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to investigate complex technical issues
Scripting or programming background, with python, javascript and shell scripting exposure
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholder teams
Fast learner who is eager to learn new technologies and tools
Excellent work ethic and willingness to take ownership and accountability for project delivery
Bachelor’s degree in technology, engineering, or equivalent industry experience
Preferred Skills:
Exposure to technologies used in modern datacenters and high-level technical understanding
Understanding of full-stack application architectures and development methodologies
Experience with Agile and DevOps concepts, including version control and CI/CD pipelines
Exposure to one or more of the following: Elasticsearch, Ansible, Splunk, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes
