Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chemist to join our R&D team. The primary focus of this role is on product formulation, including both new products and existing products in production. You will conduct research to develop and improve products, explore new and alternative raw materials for cost control and innovation, and prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests. This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of five labs within a large production facility, offering a bustling environment with mentorship and guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on product formulation for new and existing products

  • Conduct research to develop and improve manufactured products

  • Explore new and alternative raw materials for cost control and innovation

  • Prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests

  • Provide technical service support, including customer complaint investigations

  • Evaluate and interpret test results, making appropriate recommendations

  • Assist in development and quality of products, and adjust formulations

  • Utilize pneumatic equipment for aerosol cans and color computers after training

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field

  • 5-7 years of formulation experience in industries such as paints, cleaning products, aerosols, inks, coatings, or cosmetics

  • Experience in R&D

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Experience with formulations and color matching

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with laboratory equipment and procedures

  • Familiarity with balancers and mixers

  • Ability to work with a close-knit team and contribute to a positive work environment

Work Environment

This role operates on the first shift, Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with some flexibility in start time. The team is currently composed of two R&D Chemists and a Supervisor. The work environment is supportive and emphasizes a positive culture, with opportunities for promotion and growth. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $45.00/hr.
