Position Description

• Maintain working knowledge of regulatory (DOT, OSHA, etc.) requirements. Industry standards and Recommended Practices (e.g., API, ASME, NACE, ANSI, NFPA, ASTM). Kinder Morgan standards, procedures and practices associated with damage prevention and pipeline maintenance. Integrates new requirements into the maintenance and protection of pipelines. •Act as liaison between departments and the field concerning: o Technical aspects of DOT/OSHA/Industry compliance o Equipment selection and specifications o Abnormal field conditions encountered by ROW personnel •Participate in decisions regarding Kinder Morgan's ROW and pipelines, (e.g. development agreements, easement forms, pond agreements, crossing agreements, applicable technical standards). •Participate in pre-job conferences, meetings with outside agents, underground contractors, utility personnel, etc. •Plan, coordinate and/or make presentations on behalf of Kinder Morgan at periodic public seminars related to ROW/Pipeline matters. •Perform weekly ROW walks and daily drive by’s of the ROW to ensure pipeline safety and monitor for leaks. •Respond to One Calls, perform line locates and monitor excavation activities in proximity to Kinder Morgan’s pipelines. •Complete all DOT required documentation (Pipe Inspections, ROW Inspections, Encroachment reports, CP surveys, Foreign Line Crossings…). •Schedule and supervise contractors for ROW and Pipeline maintenance/repair work. •Perform and document required regulatory activities: Navigable River Crossing Inspections, Above Ground Pipe Inspections, Valve Inspections. •Perform and document monthly and annual Cathodic Protection surveys on pipelines and breakout tanks. •Maintain OQ and Emergency Response training qualifications. • Respond to pipeline emergencies. • Coordinate annual pipeline emergency response drills. • Maintain daily log of activities.

Covers pipelines in the following states NJ, NY, PA & MD and they will be responsible to respond to these states if there is work or an emergency.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum requirements and any additional preferred education or training: •High School Diploma or equivalent JOB REQUIREMENTS: inimum experience, skills, knowledge, certifications, licenses, competencies, working conditions: •Chemical Operators are required to work rotating shifts in an outdoor environment. •Position requires climbing stairs, working at elevated heights, the use of hand tools and heavy lifting. •Previous related industrial experience, a stable work history and mechanical skills are preferred •Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervision, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules, as well as, and take on other duties assigned. •Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and it's insurers •Satisfactory completion of a mandatory drug screen and background check upon job offer. •Other related duties as assigned •Ability to take initiative and work with co-workers to accomplish defined goals in a fast paced environment. •Maintain a regular, dependable attendance, and high level of performance Experience, Specific Knowledge, Certification, Licenses: •Must have thorough knowledge of ROW and pipeline damage prevention policies and procedures, damage maintenance, a minimum of 3-5 years hands-on related experience specific to the pipeline industry, be familiar with pipeline locating equipment and materials, stay current with new technologies and their possible applications to Kinder Morgan’s operating processes. Competencies/Skills: •Ability to plan, organize and oversee assigned responsibilities, excavators and maintenance contractors for company sponsored projects. •Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook. •Well-balanced interpersonal skills and demonstrable verbal and written communication skills. •Must be able to develop and deliver presentations to both internal and external groups. •Must be accountable and take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules. •Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential. •Must be a problem solver with the ability to find solutions. •Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision. •Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment. Consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with co-workers, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies. •Requires tact and diplomacy in dealing with outside parties which must also be balanced by standing firm when company personnel, property or equipment needs to be protected. Working Condidtions: Must be able and willing to perform labor intensive work at times. •To perform job functions and responsibilities, may be required to: •Walk long distances, including to remote areas where footing may be unsteady •Dig with a hand shovel and probe bar to locate pipe, which requires good physical strength, constant hand, arm and leg movements, often for extended periods. •While performing duties of the job, incumbent may be required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, and/or crouch; for extended periods of time. •Work is both inside and outside, completely dependent on need and location. Incumbent will be exposed to both hot and cold climates in all weather conditions. •Extended hours required in emergencies, on projects and/or other related circumstances at unspecified frequency. •Employee is required to carry cell phone and be responsive to after hour emergencies and other work related calls, at night, weekends and holidays Preferred experience, skills and knowledge Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position: •Pipeline repair and maintenance experience. •Operator Qualification for ROW and Pipeline Repair covered tasks.
