Description

This position is with the Carson City Public Works Department.

This is a part-time position, not to exceed 1,039 hours per fiscal year, July 1 through June 30. Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial duties related to facility cleaning and maintenance.

This position is expected to work swing shift, with hours varying from 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., approximately 14 - 20 hours per week.

Examples of Duties

  • This position may require working non-traditional shift hours, which may include early morning, afternoon, evening, late night, or swing shift.
  • Availability to work on call, evenings, and weekends is required .
  • Moves and arranges furniture and A/V equipment to set up rooms for meetings and special functions.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of hard floors, under bleachers, facility restrooms, auditorium floors, seats, windows, fixtures, mirrors and carpets.Empties trash and stocks supplies, etc.
  • Operation of cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor machines, buffers and carpet extractors.
  • Removes litter and debris from facility walkways and grounds.
  • Supervision and securing of facility.
  • Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of work; drives City vehicles to work sites, transports materials and assists other staff as required.
  • Provides customer service.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with contractors, public and City staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
Typical Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:

  • Equivalent to a High School education or GED
  • Professional cleaning experience is helpful
  • Hospitality industry experience is helpful
