General Summary: The HR Specialist is responsible for providing assistance with a wide range of HR functions, to include but not limited to recruiting, screening, interviewing, and ensuring personnel are well informed of policies and procedures. Primary Responsibilities: Assists in the recruiting, screening, and interviewing processes and ensures all processes are in compliance with all policy, procedures, and ordinances. Coordinates and develops New Employee Orientation and onboarding for all new employees ensuring that paperwork is up to date and completed in a timely manner. Collaborates with other HR locations to ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and ordinances are consistent. The HR Specialist updates records, maintains and ensures completeness of Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Monitors employee grievance process and facilitates as requested. Collaborates with management on supervisory concerns including corrective actions and performance appraisals. Monitors and assists with the accurate, complete and timely preparation of records, reports, and other documents. Prepares and processes personnel actions for the Divisions and programs. Works with the payroll to ensure that all personnel actions are correct and received in a timely manner. Gathers information and statistics for reports. In conjunction with HR Management, develops forms for the HR Division. Assist in the development and maintenance of all position descriptions; new and future job positions; ensuring they are classified correctly based on appropriate regulatory guidelines. Appropriate work attire is required. Must attend all mandatory department training. Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients. Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems. Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers. Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community. Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
