This Shipping Supervisor position is based at our Myers Controlled Power factory in Canton, Ohio.
Job Purpose
Lead shipping team in ensuring safe and quality packaging and shipment of all shipping units. Oversee shipment status, ship deadlines, efficiency, workmanship and workload of shipping team. Will work under general guidance of the Director of Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise shipping team in verification of accuracy against packing slip for all units brought to the dock for shipping.
Report non-conformances, unresolved shortages, job status, labor hour allocation, re-work and labor hours required to complete re-work, to Director of Ops.
Create Shipping Documents (i.e. BOM, bill of lading, packing slip, etc.).
Coordinate with receiving/production/purchasing/accounting to correct document/ unit discrepancies and gather missing information.
Oversee preparation of finished product to prevent movement during shipment, corrosion or damage.
Prepare bill of ladings (BOLs) and other required documentation for daily shipments.
Obtain freight quotes and rates as well as best shipping methods when requested by Customer Service or Project Managers.
Coordinate deliveries to job sites with Project Managers.
Schedule freight pickups with corresponding trucking companies.
Schedule and ship out small parcels and packages with FedEx or UPS as required.
Track shipments and communicate status updates accordingly.
Post daily shipments.
Post month end of all shipments prior to the end of the last day of the fiscal month.
Turn in all shipping packets to accounting department daily.
Understand, follow, and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
Assist customer, inspectors and field service as required.
Conduct safety training and ensure proper PPE and safe practices/ behaviors are utilized.
Provide recommendations in problem solving and continuous improvement.
