Req# 26967 Aultman Health Foundation, CANTON, OH AULTMAN HOSPITAL Aultman Health Foundation Full Time, Varied Shifts, varied JOB TITLE: Perinatal Patient Safety and Quality Nurse REPORTS TO: Unit Director PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Perinatal Patient Safety and Quality Nurse is responsible for planning, implementing, directing, and evaluating patient safety and quality improvement to ensure the highest level of performance is achieved. This nurse reports to the Unit Director of the Birth Center and works in partnership with the executive of Women's Services, Medical Director of the Birth Center, and OB physician leadership. This role will support and collaborate with the CNO, Quality Director, and VP of Quality as well. Knowledge of the perinatal national standards and guidelines and the principles and practice of safety science is essential. Communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with leadership and staff members to promote teamwork among all care providers are critical to role success and to the success of the perinatal safety program initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of State Board approved School of Nursing. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio Educational and experiential qualifications with consideration of the following: Education- BSN required. MSN, MBA, or HCA preferred. Certification required for those meeting eligibility requirements. Membership preferred in professional nursing organization. At least 5 years of clinical nursing experience in obstetrics. Computer skills: strong working knowledge of MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Evaluates, analyzes, and reports data for perinatal clinical quality in conjunction with quality coordinator. Set-up and maintain processes to identify, analyze and address variances in key performance indicators. Participates in the development of goals and action plans to achieve quality performance targets/benchmarks based on clinical outcome reports. Project management skills, including the ability to identify stakeholders, plan steps, coordinate and allocate resources to accomplish goals and objectives in a timely manner. Keeps current with changing national standards of clinical practice and perinatal safety evidence-based literature. Access to AWHONN, ACOG, SMFM Maintains competency in clinical specialty and participates in professional organizations and networking forums. Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, presentation, and computer skills. Develops collaborative relationships with hospital personnel, residents, and physicians to ensure a continued focus and improve operations. Ability to develop policies and procedures, run/develop simulations, performance dashboards and scorecards, and other tools related to performance and quality metrics. Demonstrates leadership abilities; flexibility to accept and manage change. Models in daily activities the values, goals, and expectations of the unit and hospital. Serves as a role model for clinical and professional practice. Acts as a resource for the maternity service staff - promotes teamwork within all departments. Participates in action planning for staff development. Monitors patient satisfaction and provides service recovery as needed. Provides direct patient care when needed. Maintains professionalism and confidentiality in all communications. Supports and enforces hospital policies and best practice measures. The job will require schedule flexibility regarding shift start and end times.
