The Network Specialist is a critical role within the IT Department, tasked with maintaining the company's network infrastructure and enhancing its security posture. This role blends the responsibilities of network maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting with the proactive identification and mitigation of security risks. The specialist will ensure network performance and reliability while safeguarding information assets against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, destruction, or disruption.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilites:

 

  • * Maintain and monitor standard network configurations, ensuring optimal performance and reliability and escalation to next tier when needed.
  • * Provide technical support to users, addressing issues related to hardware, software, email, and network access.
  • * Conduct daily server monitoring, including backups, services, resource utilization, and oversee backup rotations.
  • * Help administer VOIP phone systems.
  • * Administrate our M365, Microsoft AD, and Exchange environment.
  • * Install, update and maintain existing software on servers and local machines.
  • * Collaborate in selecting hardware and service vendors, manage software licensing, and maintain an inventory of IT assets using current tools available.
  • * Maintain documentation of network configurations and security protocols, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • * Perform security assessments of network, system, and application environments, identifying vulnerabilities, and recommending remediation strategies.
  • * Enforce policies and procedures for network and information security, including access control, incident response, and risk assessment.
  • * Advise IT management about potential security risks and advise fellow employees about security matters.
  • * Engage in continuous learning to stay abreast of new technologies and security trends.

Employment Type & Hours:

  • * This full-time, hourly position will consist of 40 hours per week.
  • * Hours may fall between 8:00am and 5:00pm, M-F.
  • * Flexibility with a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

 

  • * Knowledge/Skills: Exceptional communication skills, proficiency in network infrastructure and security measures, ability to troubleshoot complex issues, and strong analytical skills to evaluate security posture.
  • * Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CISM are advantageous.
  • * Computer Skills: In-depth knowledge of networking and security software tools, firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • * Availability: Must be flexible to work outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends to perform maintenance tasks or respond to security incidents.
