Job Summary: Spends their work day in tool room, and/or collaborating with engineering staff. Uses math skills, analytical skills, and precision measuring tools daily. Assists in diagnosis of mold & die problems, as well as executing solutions to correct specifications. Keeps work area clean and organized, as well as working well with others daily.Duties & Responsibilities:- Reads and comprehends detailed drawings or files, such as blueprints and those for CAD and CAM.- Computes and verifies dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances.-Set up, operates, and disassembles manual and CNC machine tools.-Files, grinds, and adjusts parts to fit their needs-Tests completed tools and dies and ensures that final results meets specifications.- Can smooth & Polish surfaces of tools and dies.Required Skills and Abilities: -Analytical Skills: the ability to read and comprehend drawings and blueprints in order to craft precision tools and parts.-Manual dexterity: Accuracy required, sometimes within .0001 of an inch. requires concentration and agility. -Mechanical Skills: Knowledge, experience , and capability in operating many machines such as , milling, lathes, grinders for example. -Physical Stamina: Lots of moving around, staying in one place, and repetitive movements required to perform primary responsibilities.-Technical Skills: Must understand plastic injection molding manufacturing processes, as well as metal working, CAD/CAM technology, and manual measuring machines. As well as understanding the use of precision measuring tools. Education and Experience Requirements:-Highschool Diploma/GED-2 years machinist experience required.-At least 1 year experience working with experienced Tool & Die Maker (Reference Required)
