  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced, high-energy environment, to work independently, and to pivot and re-prioritize work.

  • Mac and PC literacy.

  • Should have a proven ability to relate to individuals at all levels with poise and diplomacy, triage and set priorities, and display discretion when working with sensitive information.

  • Experience with website content management platforms, AI- powered assistants, and training software, including CampusPress, Amazon Q, ChatGPT, CoPilot, Articulate products, and Canva

Position Description:Financial Administration (FAD) is dedicated to advancing Harvard University’s teaching and research mission by stewarding its resources; providing support, guidance, and consultation; ensuring compliance with University and federal guidelines; mitigating risk; pursuing operational excellence; and promoting the financial health of the University.

The Office for Sponsored Programs (OSP) is a department within Harvard University’s Financial Administration that is focused on providing high-quality administrative and financial assistance to faculty and other University affiliates performing sponsored research. OSP works with researchers across Harvard to help obtain and negotiate awards from sponsoring agencies, assist with grant proposal preparation, ensure compliance with federal regulations and University policies, provide financial support including financial reporting and billing and collection services, and promote knowledge of sponsored research administration throughout the University research community.

Harvard University encompasses thirteen separate schools, including Harvard College, Harvard Medical School, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, various research institutes, and other graduate schools. Its researchers are supported by $1 billion in sponsored funding per year to conduct cutting-edge exploration in medicine, energy and climate studies, the social sciences, and a vast array of other areas. OSP works to support and promote the vision of this dynamic and growing research community by assisting researchers, sponsors, and staff in matters of stewardship, compliance, and training.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Training and Compliance, the University Sponsored Training Officer supports the following activities in the Office for Sponsored Programs:

  • Facilitate in the creation, revision, design, and execution of the strategic direction for the overall University training portfolio.

  • Communicates with participants regarding course requirements and reviews feedback and special requests.

  • Supervise the approach of learning and business needs analysis.

  • Ensure content and curriculum align with university needs and are compliant with University Policy and regulations.

  • Works with Subject Matter Experts to develop training content.

  • Manage the quality review of training content.

  • Assist with reviewing and incorporating feedback into training content.

  • Implement project plans for the OSP training team based on direction from community and university leadership.

  • Advise on the development of curriculum roadmaps.

  • Develop;

  • plan for evaluating course efficacy.

  • and manage business processes for OSP Training Team, and deliver train-the-trainer programs.

  • Analyze and present results of surveys used to measure program efficacy, reputation, and demographics, to provide information that will guide and influence future training and updates to current training.

  • Keep current on trends in training software, digital accessibility requirements and instructional design best practices.

  • Represent the OSP Training team on University and/or external committees.

  • Chair training committees as needed.

  • Facilitate training and program sessions.

  • Supervision responsibilities for one full-time employee.

  • Oversee the hiring process and performance of direct reports.

This position has been designated as a primarily remote position (1 day on site per quarter). While this position is primarily remote, travel to campus may be necessary based on business needs and the nature of work.
