The Position and Job Summary
Provide consultation and recommendations and serve as a support on matters pertaining to the aging process for consumers.
Facilitate and/or coordinate resources, trainings, or workshops with staff and/or community.
In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, support the implementation of Aging Adult objectives and support the Center's aging adult initiatives.
Identify, build, and sustain strategic partnerships with local community agencies and various stakeholders to assist in outreach efforts designed to identify, educate and inform consumers and families on aging topics.
Review and develop risk mitigation and prevention strategies for aging consumers.
Collaborate on projects and related committees.
Other duties as assigned.
Compensation
- This position is a non-exempt. Regular Salary: $28.91 - $31.91 per hour.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required; concentration in human services, such as social work, sociology, or psychology, preferred.
For this specialist position, a degree in Gerontology or any specialized training or internships with aging is highly preferred.
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in social services is required.
Regional Center experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of benefits planning (i.e., such as Medicare)
Understanding of cultural norms of a diverse aging community
Knowledge of individuals with developmental disabilities
Expertise in multicultural competence in social service settings
Community resources
Knowledge of the regional center system preferred
Microsoft Office and related applications
Essential Requirements
Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation, or acceptable substitute, required.
Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

The Organization
North Los Angeles County Regional Center “NLACRC” is a private, non-profit agency that is contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California and has proudly served the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974.
