PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Functional GIS Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive management of GIS-related tasks including data gathering, process analysis, solution execution, and documentation.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop and manage interactive GIS Enterprise Portal layers, maps, and apps, utilizing tools like Experience Builder for groundbreaking GIS application and data delivery

  • Craft presentation maps and leverage off-the-shelf builders to ensure efficient GIS app development

  • Manage spatial data in various data store environments, Hosted, SDE and File Geodatabases

  • Conduct thorough analysis of spatial and tabular rail data to support informed business decision-making processes

  • Forge strong business relationships and employ profound GIS knowledge to spearhead solution-driven organizational change

  • Articulate requirements and specifications to design, propose, and implement process improvements using ESRI Enterprise GIS stack along with other pertinent GIS software including Bentley and Safe Software

  • Design solutions across various technology platforms within the GIS domain, aimed at bolstering the organization's objectives

  • Utilize established industry standards to ensure the solutions are deployable, scalable, and maintainable within a growing organization

  • Oversee the maintenance and support of both existing and newly implemented solutions, ensuring operational excellence

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4 - 6 years of practical experience and knowledge of principles, concepts, practices, techniques and tools in the areas of GIS. Using ESRI as core software

  • Familiarity with GIS software like Bentley and Safe Software is an asset

  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of analyzing spatial and tabular data

    Management Conductor Program:

    Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
