SCL Health EKG Technician PRN in Butte, Montana

Job Description:

Performs EKG, EEG, Stress Tests, Holter application, and Holter scanning procedures in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards set by Cardiopulmonary Services.

Scope:

  • Performs EKG, Signal Average, EEG, Stress and Holter application as ordered by physicians according to established procedures.
  • Reports all ventricular arrhythmias, 2nd and 3rd degree blocks, ST depression or elevation changes to the RN, physician or immediate supervisor.
  • Deals with dysrhythmia changes and complications to stress testing in a calm and logical manner.
  • Identifies and saves abnormal wave patterns for physician interpretation.
  • Scans Holter Monitor tapes, according to procedure, in a timely fashion.
  • Performs transmitted EKG (event monitoring) according to procedure.
  • Notifies physicians of gross abnormalities and documents that the physician has been notified.
  • Edits EKG's after physician reads EKG.
  • Makes out monthly schedule for EKG interpretation by physicians.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots equipment.
  • Event Monitor - patient's application, instruction and transmitting of strips.
  • May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
  • May be required to be paced on call during a regularly scheduled shift.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or three to six months related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience, required.
  • BLS, required (upon hire)
  • CCT, preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Requirements:

Hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, sitting, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, and walking.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$16.15 - $25.19
