Insight Global Senior Data Engineer in Burnaby, British Columbia
Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a skilled Senior Data Engineer to work remotely in Canada for a large AAA game employer on a 6-month contract. You will be working with the data products team on the core metric platform for centralized reporting for all games. This platform is built off Snowflake warehouse with heavy DBT core workflow and improvement opportunities. They are currently using a Power BI visualization tool. A high level of DBT proficiency is required, including knowing best practices and being able to advise on process improvement and optimizations. 50% of your time will be spent coding in Python, and 50% of your time will be spent in documentation, ETLs and Git. A self-starter is needed as about half of your time will be spent in self-directed work and the half your time will be spent completing tasking that are assigned to you.

Skills and Requirements
8+ years of data engineering experience
5+ years of experience with DBT Core (not DBT Cloud) conducting macros, models, unity cases, upgrades etc.
Proficiency in Snowflake warehouse
5+ years of experience in ETL orchestration and workflow management tools, designing data pipelines (both large and small), and processing code for scalability and performance.
Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL/ELT/EtLT pipelines
Git/Gitlab/Github experience
Airflow workflow experience
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (preferred) or SQL (cloud, not local)
Experience using containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to simplify and synthesize complex constructs
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Knowledge or experience in Data mesh or Data Lake House Designs null
