Catholic Charities of WNY GED/ESL Educator in Buffalo, New York
We are hiring a Per Diem( 15-19 hours per week), GED/ESL Educator for our Workforce Development department with Catholic Charities of Buffalo to serve our clients in the Buffalo Area.

Catholic Charities of Buffalo, NY, is the most comprehensive human service provider serving the eight counties of Western New York with dozens of programs at 40+ professionally staffed locations. Our programs include comprehensive counseling services for all ages, basic emergency assistance including operating 8 food pantries, mental health services, chemical dependency treatment, educational and job readiness services, services to older adults, marriage counseling, immigration and refugee assistance and a variety of programs that address prevention and treatment of a number of family issues.
JOB SUMMARY : Assess mastery level of English language learners. Prepare course materials, design lessons addressing low-intermediate-advanced levels of English language learners. Track student progress, develop and update individualized educational service strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Administer and evaluate TABE Test, practice GED Test and BEST Plus to students on a continuing basis to determine individualized level of instruction
Utilize established methods to assess student's strengths and weaknesses and begin to employ these methods
Formulate goals and objectives as a result of ongoing student assessment
Implement an individualized educational plan with appropriate methods of instruction.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students
Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies
Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instruction as to meet the needs of individual students and subgroups of students
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior required to run an orderly and productive classroom environment
Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and progress
Learn and utilize program specific data tracking system
Collaborate with Case Managers, Employment Counselors and partnering agencies
Assess student's academic areas as they pertain to entrance into college or training program
Meet quantitative expectations established by program contracts
Participate in agency trainings, workshops, conferences, continuing education classes
Perform other duties as assigned
Comply with the Agency's Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, laws, regulations, and ethical standards applicable to your job duties
EDUCATION :
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum 1 year teaching/co-teaching experience
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Reliable Transportation
PREFERRED :
New York State Teaching Certification
Experience working with older youth and adult population
BEST Plus and TABE Certification
EXPERIENCE :
Strong personal and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
The ability to keep concise records
A sensitivity to the development stages and well-being of participants
The ability to work with a diversity of individuals and groups
Able to accept supervision and work well both independently and in teams
Excellent problem solving skills to analyze issues and create action plans
The ability to adapt to changing work priorities and maintain flexible working hours
The ability to establish and maintain constructive relationships
